What is your business about

'Reducing Waste, Enhancing Style'. At PLASTIQUE we create handmade, one-of-a-kind Jewellery and Original Artwork using purely hand collected single-use waste plastic of-a-kind

Please describe your life before starting

Before PLASTIQUE I had a completely different business for 9 years creating costume designs on a commission basis for independent artists, dancers, actors, singers and performers. If we go even further back, I had worked in secondary education and adult education for 7 years, but I was extremely unhappy and battling with major depression from not fulfilling my passion and dreams of bring a crewtive

What made you decide to take the leap and start your own business?

I felt stuck on my job, restricted by the 9-5 hours which made being creative or taking other freelance external work extremely challenging which worked me into a depressive spiral. One day I woke up and decided to quit my job. It was a very impulsive decision but I don't regret it for a second!,

How would you describe your life now, as a solopreneur?

My life is a dream. Don't get me wrong, the workload is far more than working for others, the unsteady financial circumstances that come with finding your own work or selling your own products are much greater than having a monthly salary, but I plan my own timetable, and get to do the things I love EVERY SINGLE DAY!,

How has your ADHD played a positive role in your business life?

It gives me the will power and determination to keep pushing, even through extreme pressure or difficult circumstances because I look back at all of the hurdles I've jumped to get where I am today and I know I cam take on any challenge. I also allow my hyperfocus to take over on the topics I have deep appreciation for. I loge learning new things, so ad long ad I've got a set dedicated amount of time I can really use it to delve into the subject making the most 'boring of subjects become juicy.

What's your top tip for other ADHD women aspiring to be solopreneurs

Definitely jump in and do it. If I can do it, so can you! The only thing stopping you from this is other people's thoughts of you, combined with your own fear of failure. But the biggest thing we get from failure, is growth and Knowledge!
