What is your business about?

Queen Arthur Adornment is the first professional piercing studio in Scarborough and surrounding areas. Focusing on client safety, I provide the highest quality body jewellery sourced from all over the world. I was shocked, when I moved here at the level of piercing service being offered, there was nothing like Queen Arthur’s, it was a massive risk. I’m not sure if you’re aware but body piercing is a completely unregulated industry meaning it is rife with low standards, cheap jewellery and injured clients.,

Please describe your life before starting

After college decided I didn’t want to go to uni yet, so I trained in accounts. Decided I hated it. Went to university as a mature student with the to train as a teacher, hated it. Had a string of other jobs, hated all of them. Just couldn’t settle in to a role at all. Found everything so boring!

What made you decide to take the leap and start your own business?

I don’t even think it was a decision, When I started piercing I fell in love with it and my hyper fixation on piercing standards has led me to where I am today.,

How would you describe your life now, as a solopreneur?

I am happier than I’ve ever been. Although I do work a LOT I am able to set my own hours and work around my family. I’m finally at a stage where I can be ‘me’ and the more ‘me’ I am, the more clients love me! My studio is a complete representation of me and my brain and people love it there. Clients bring me gifts and cards and I have so many positive client interactions, it’s done my confidence the world of good,

How has your ADHD played a positive role in your business life?

Being able to learn, I am such a fast learner, I regularly attend conventions and take classes, implementing the knowledge to improve my business. I am creative, I constantly come up with new and exciting ways to promote the business. I am very thorough and (over)explain to my clients, as a result aftercare and trouble shooting piercings is my specialty.

What's your top tip for other ADHD women aspiring to be solopreneurs?

Trust yourself! Adhd women are plagued by self doubt, find what you love and run with it! People will see your passion shining through.
